As usual, there has been and will be a lot of hype about pending disaster, but scientists do believe that the asteroid expected to pass very near Earth in October 2028 actually has very little chance of colliding with our planet. It will, however, be nearly 1 mile in diameter and is named Asteroid 1997XF11.
