What do insects eat?

With the zillions of kinds of insects in the world, it’s hard to pinpoint this exactly, but most of them eat plants (as may be obvious by an inspection of your garden). Some of them (such as mosquitoes) eat blood, others eat dirt, and still others favor nectar. Insects such as cockroaches and ants like to eat crumbs of food.
