Why doesn’t lightning come with snowstorms?
Answer
Actually, lightning can occur during a snowstorm, although it is very rare. Some people call this thunder snow. It’s unusual because snowstorms are cold, and cold air doesn’t rise and create thunderclouds as warm air does. But if there is enough energy in the atmosphere and a lot of moisture, thunderclouds can form and drop snow instead of rain when the temperature is just below freezing.
