What are the Gemini Dates?

Gemini is the third astrological sign in the zodiac. Under the tropical zodiac, the Sun usually transits this sign between May 21 and June 20. In 2024, the Gemini Dates are May 20 to June 19. The sign spans the 60th to 90th degree of celestial longitude.

Gemini Sign

Gemini is an air sign ruled by the planet Mercury, the messenger god .The symbol of the Gemini zodiac sign is a pair of twins, represented by Castor and Pollux, who are twin half-brothers in Greek mythology, known together as the Dioscuri. As the myth goes, the twins had different fathers, and Pollux was the son of Zeus, the Greek king of the gods, who made Pollus immortal. When Castor, a mortal, was killed, his twin couldn’t bear to be parted and asked his father, Zeus, to intervene. Pollux was allowed to split his immortality with his twin, and they were transformed into the two brightest stars in the constellation Gemini.

Geminis are said to have a dual nature, as symbolized by twins. This sign rarely likes to do anything alone. The twins represent a dual-natured personality, sometimes contradictory but also adaptable, with the capability to view life from different angles. Located in the Northern Hemisphere, Gemini is best seen during summer nights. While not the brightest constellation, it’s easy to find with a little guidance. 

Look for two bright stars, Castor and Pollux, which form a basic head-to-toe stick figure outline.  Imagine connecting the stars with lines to create two stick figures standing side-by-side.  Gemini is located between the much brighter constellations Leo and Orion.
