On June 9, Jupiter moves into Cancer, where it will remain until June 30, 2026. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, while Cancer is associated with home, family, and security. So what happens when the big planet goes home? Here’s what you need to know.
Jupiter in Cancer
Slow-moving Jupiter spends roughly thirteen months in an astrological sign, which means it takes twelve years to move around the zodiac wheel. Wherever Jupiter lands, it expands. For example, the recent transit through Gemini created more literature, short travels, learning opportunities, and expansive thinking. However, changes in the media landscape meant people received their news in different, sometimes unreliable, ways. Disinformation, the shadow side to this transit, ran rampant, challenging our ability to discern what’s real.
As you might guess, Jupiter isn’t too happy in Gemini, which has a tendency to scatter the opportunities this transit offers. In contrast, Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, which means it operates with ease, joy, and abundance in the sign of the Crab.
Once Jupiter leaves Gemini for sentimental Cancer, the focus shifts from thinking to feeling. But don’t assume this means emotions will be in overdrive. Although Jupiter in Cancer heightens sensitivity, this opens hearts to empathy, the ability to understand how the other side feels. Deeper connections are possible when we’re able to get past the surface and find common emotional threads.
Cancer’s desire to nurture thrives during this transit. Caring for others, whether that be loved ones or needy folks, adds meaning to our lives. Opportunities to give comfort are abundant, which help foster tighter-knit communities. If you see a need, this is the ideal time to pitch in.
Families can experience growth. That could mean more babies or new members through engagement or marriage. Of course, you might welcome other people into the fold, such as friends, neighbors, or coworkers, creating new familial structures. The whole concept of family could also change, leading to bigger “tents” where all feel welcome.
During Jupiter’s transit through Cancer, the home can expand in other ways. For example, this year may mean a bigger nest. It could be an excellent time to invest in real estate or home improvement projects. If that’s not feasible, securing the current living situation may be a wise investment. For some, this transit could bring family members home, or parents could move in due to needing assistance with daily living.
Although Cancer is associated with comfort, it’s also a cardinal sign, which means it prefers to take action. Rather than sitting around hoping for security, this transit says: make it happen. That might mean frugality, growing your own food, mending rather than buying new, tending to home improvement projects, or installing alarm systems. It’s an excellent year to get thrifty and add to your savings account.
Because Cancer rules the stomach and Jupiter loves to keep the faith, there is no better time to develop and trust your intuition. Go with your gut—it will help you make the best decisions this year.

Jupiter in Cancer in the Natal Chart
If you’re born with Jupiter in Cancer in your natal chart, you may be protective of your family, sentimental to a fault, and generous with your loved ones. You’ll also tend to attract security through good jobs or family support. Many people with Jupiter in Cancer come from loving families that instilled good values. Parents may have been more likely to help beyond the childhood years. You may also be able to establish a stable home and family life. In some cases, you may have received property or family heirlooms.
However, the negative side can indicate over-dependence on family or a tendency to be overly protective of loved ones. In some cases, you might take your loved ones for granted. While these traits are not healthy, they can be overcome with self-awareness.
Jupiter in Cancer people will experience their “Jupiter return” this year, which means this will be a period of luck, growth, and opportunity. If you’re a Cancer Sun, this is your “Emerald Year,” a concept coined by astrologer Susan Miller. In that case, your year will be sparkly with many possibilities.
Jupiter Retrograde
You may be more familiar with Mercury Retrograde since this small planet retrograde four times a year. Jupiter stations retrograde on November 11, an annual event that presses pause on growth.
During this period, which lasts until March 10, 2026, you have an opportunity to reflect. How are you growing? Are your goals coming along the way you want, or is it time for a new plan? Where do you need to scale back or level up? What does family, home, and security mean to you? Ask yourself these questions and make adjustments once Jupiter is direct.

Scorpio: There is no better time to trot the globe. You’ll have ample opportunities to add stamps to your passport. Jupiter also brings other ways to expand your horizons. Sagittarius: Jupiter wants you to secure your fortress. More money will come your way, but it’s vital that you save for a rainy day. Take stock of your budget, plug leaks, and consult your financial advisor about best investments. The more responsible you are this year, the more likely you’ll weather future storms.

Pisces: True love is a possibility during Jupiter’s transit through Cancer. If you’re in the market for love, the opportunities look divine! Already partnered? This could be the right time to say “I do.” Pregnancy or adoption could expand your family. Best of all, your legendary creativity gets a mega-boost. Let your muses take the wheel!
Pay attention to these two dates:
Right after Jupiter enters Cancer, it will make two harsh aspects, which could create disruptions. The first occurs on June 15 when Jupiter forms a square (90º) with Saturn. This creates a conflict, mostly because Jupiter wants to expand while Saturn prefers limits. Frustration rises, so you’ll want to exercise patience.
Hot on the heels of this aspect, Jupiter squares Neptune, an aspect associated with illusion, escapism, and misplaced devotion. Avoid getting duped by remaining grounded and practicing discernment. The energy of these two aspects will loosen up in about a month. Once that happens, get ready to grow!
