Great article, but what is the featured picture?! The red shoots that look like dyed asparagus. We have it popping up everywhere, and I have no idea what it is! Was so excited to find the answer in this article, but can't seem to locate it hahaha
Those are peonies!
I didn't know the name of Hellebores; isnce they are early bloomers I will get some; I would not consider Violets to be invasive; esp. if u have extra land; they look so pretty around the base of trees; and wild native woods~
Robin, I really enjoy reading your post in the daily F.A., that comes to my inbox. Just wondering if you've thought of an owl box for your vole problem? Depending on where you live of course would determine the type of house/box, I've recently installed a barn owl box I'm excited to see if we get any this year. Owls as I'm sure you know are amazing self sufficient predators and because they are night hunters, there is typically not an issue with house hold pets...might be worth investigating ...thanks again for your wonderful posts and sharing your insights with us.
