To Access the Preplanned Gardens

When you create a garden plan with our online Garden Planner, you’ll see that you have the option of opening an old plan or creating a new plan.

After you choose “Create New Plan,” all the sample plans above will appear as options. Select whichever plan you like (or try them all)! The plan instantly drops into your Garden Planner, and you can use it as a starting place. You can swap out vegetables that you like better or shift any of the plans to your liking.

Here are a few examples:

Beginner Garden

This plan features common and popular veggies that aren’t too challenging to grow. We’ve combined plants that grow well together (using our companion planting feature) and calculated the spacing for you. Your plan will automatically generate an entire buying list, planting calendar, and harvesting calendar that fits your exact zip code and corresponding weather station. Then you’ll receive email reminders telling you when to plant what. Plus, you can access our free expert advisors at any time with questions.

Salad Garden

There’s no question that salad greens taste so tender and delicious straight from the garden. You just can’t compare to store-bought. Also, a salad garden is perfect for those homeowners who have partial shade or who live in cooler places, as they generally grow best in the cool spring and fall rather than summer.

Herb Garden

An herb garden is a wonderful small garden that’s best grown near your house, so you can just step outside and snip some herbs when you’re cooking in the kitchen! Herbs add wonderful flavor, scent, and health benefits to your life!

Feed-Your-Family Garden

For many folks, the idea of feeding your family with vegetables grown in your own garden is very appealing. Our garden designer created this preplanned garden to feed a family of four over the full growing season.

American Heirloom Garden

Many gardeners have expressed an interest in growing more heirloom vegetables. These are the original, non-hybridized seeds which often offer much more taste and variety. In addition, all heirloom plants are open pollinated, meaning that the seeds can be saved and they will grow “true to type” in following years (unlike hybrid).

Square Foot Gardening (SFG) Garden

The popular square-foot-gardening method is especially great for small gardens. The growing area is divided into small one-foot square sections for more intensive planting. In this template, two 4’x4’ raised beds have been designed using the SFG  principles and a mix of companion crops.

Pollinator Garden

Feed yourself as well as the butterflies, bees, and pollinators! This beautiful garden full of flowers that will attract pollinating insects throughout the year for a more productive vegetable yield but also bigger, better flower blooms.
