Our tester called this “incredibly easy for something so good.” We loved the combination of apple-pie spices, apples, and pecans in the cake. This superb coffee cake makes a great dessert served warm with ice cream.

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups peeled, cored, and chopped apples
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch pie plate.

In a large saucepan, melt butter. Remove from the heat and blend in sugar and egg.

In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and cloves. Add butter mixture and beat until smooth. Stir in vanilla, apples, and pecans. Spread into prepared pan. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a tester inserted near the center comes out clean. Serve warm.
