What's the Sun made of? It's not solid. The Sun is composed of plasma, a material made from electrically charged gas atoms.
The Sun is primary hydrogen (75 percent). Hydrogen is the same flammable gas once used to fill airships such as the Hindenburg and are now used in rocket fuel).
The rest of the Sun's makeup is helium (25 percent). Helium is the safer gas we now use to fill airships and party balloons.
