Snake gourds have their flavor from the herbs and other veg used. The dish will look like chunky porridge. So snake gourd flesh is like a filler. Snake gourds are about 12-14” long. But if you have the patience to tie a small stone to the end, then they grow longer, may be upto 3’. Ribbed/ridged good is a prolific harvest in rich soil about 12-15” long. Though the skin is hard, once you peel it, can be used after dicing snd sauté or steaming. The bottle gourds if of decent size ( say 2’ dia) are cherished as they are used in musical instrument ‘veena’.
