We haven't used fertilizers on our lawn since we moved to our new home. The second year here we saw more bees and bumblees. Now in the fourth year I can see an even bigger increase in numbers.
For two autumns now we have left the leaves as well. I think the combination of those two measures has helped a lot. And this year I'm using every sunny space to spread a mix of native wildflower seeds for my zone. We have mostly shaded spaces, but it's encouraging to read in your article that, even when small, pollinator gardens still make a difference.
