Had to laugh, I wear socks to bed to this day. When I was growing up, we moved to the country and my parents didn't trust propane so we had a wood heat stove as the primary heat source in Winter. We were the third to the last of four homes to the end of the power line. Electricity could go out with just the sound of thunder or ice on the lines or breaking Pine limbs so with the cost of electricity, we only used small heaters in the bedrooms at night. PJ's, socks, and good blankets were the norm.
