I admit it. I love wild turkeys and I feed them enough corn to be sure they have a little bit of extra energy for our horrible Quebec winters! Especially if there is a layer of ice! They are in trouble in that case and really need help. I have seen them treed for 3 days, waiting for it to be safe to manoeuvre on the ground. Contrary to this article, they are quite easy targets … the reason they were virtually wiped out! Quebec has stupidly opened up both spring and fall hunting. We shall see what happens. This year then local flock managed to produce a dozen chicks between 2 hens. Wonderful mothers!
