Let me finish, please! It was called Decoration Day for a little more than a century, and it was always May 30th, and it was a state holiday in some states. Then in 1971 the Uniform Hollidays Act made it Memorial Day and it became the last Monday in May, and it became a Federal holiday. It must have been something done right, because it looks like the holiday stuck. As you enjoy that burger, remember what the day is all about.
